    Description

    Full-size original bronze medal, age-toned on correct original ribbon with King Vittorio Emanuele III in helmet looking left, circumscribed ‘GUERRA PER L’UNITA D’ITALIA 1915 1918’. The war of 1915 to 1918 was primarily with Austria and was regarded as a continuation of the unification of Italy that began in 1865. The designer ‘S. CANEVARI’ is on the obverse at 4 o’clock position and maker’s mark ‘
    SIM Roma

    (Association of Italian medal makers, Rome) at the 6 o’clock position. The r
    everse shows winged Victory on shields held over the helmeted heads of soldiers and circumscribed ‘CONIATO NEL BRONZO NEMICO’ (Struck from enemy bronze).
    The medal was instituted on 29 July 1920. Great condition for a scarce medal.
